BIO
Dmitri Gibbs
is a lifelong creative and visual artist whose journey began in Guyana before he migrated to Brooklyn, NY, at the age of four. Growing up amidst the Hip Hop cultural renaissance of the 70s and 80s, Dmitri immersed himself in the vibrant culture, expressing his artistry, filling up “black books” with graffiti and comic book characters, “B boying” Pop locking and Breaking. Notably tapping a beat or spilling a verse at the lunch room table.
His talents were quickly recognized, leading him to attend Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts, followed by a BFA from the School of Visual Arts in 1996.
Dmitri’s career as a graphic designer, art director, and creative director spans work in advertising agencies and corporate creative departments. Beyond his professional achievements, he continues to pursue a wide range of creative endeavors, including painting, drawing, sculpting, poetry, music, interior design, photography, and now author, embodying a true multidisciplinary artist.
